Fun Things to Do in October in San Diego

Fall is finally here!  The summer has passed and it is time to turn your attention to fall festivals, food, Halloween, and even looking ahead to the beginning of the holiday season.  Fall offers many fun, family friendly activities for those looking for a fun outing or even a “scary” adventure. Here are some unique and festive things to do with your family this October!

 

  • Miramar Air Show will be held this year from October 2 – 4, 2015 at Miramar.  This is air show is free to the public and is one of the most spectacular events to honor all of our beloved military personnel.  The air show features the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, The US Army Golden Knights, the Breitling Jet Team and many more captivating performances.  You can purchase preferred seating tickets to see things even more closely.

 

  • Annual Pacific Beachfest – This annual event is sure to be fun for every member of your family. It will be held this year on Saturday October 3rd, 2015 from 11:30am until 6:30pm at Pacific Beach. Activities include beach volleyball, local shopping, live music, food, fine arts and crafts, kid rides, some of the best fish tacos you will ever eat, fireworks and more! This fun, family event is free to the public.
  • Kids Free San Diego Museums in October:  You cannot beat this deal!  Kids (12 and under) are admitted free to 40+ San Diego Museums in the month of October. Click here to download your coupon and keep in mind you must purchase an adult ticket to qualify for this amazing offer!  
  • Family Days at Maritime Museum – Sunday, October 18th is Family Day at the Maritime Museum of San Diego. All kids 12 and under are free and this includes a craft activity.  You can get 2 kids free tickets per paid adult ticket ($16/adult).  This will make for a wonderful family day!
  • San Diego Dog Beaches – The fall is a great time to take your pooch to the beach.  With fewer crowds, you will have more room to enjoy a great day at the beach.  The following beaches welcome dogs:  the northern end of Coronado Beach next to the Naval Air Station is a San Diego dog beach for unleashed dogs (most of Coronado Beach is not dog friendly), Fiesta Island in Mission Bay, and Ocean Beach Dog Beach, perhaps the most well known San Diego dog beach.
  • Lite Frite at Monster Manor 2015 – If you are looking for a way to begin the Halloween festivities a bit early this year with your younger kids, mark your calendar to attend Lite Frite at Monster Manor, held Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26 from 12 until 4pm.  This is a kid friendly, NON SCARY attraction designed for ages 2-10. Families will take a journey through the attraction in search of fun, adventure, and most of all CANDY! All scary monsters, ghoulish ghosts, and spooky spirits have been put away to make way for maximum Halloween fun and minimum scares!  Monstor Manor has more scary activities throughout the Halloween season.
  • Scream Zone Del Mar – If you are looking for something a little more scary, also think about checking out Scream Zone in Del Mark, open between September 25 – November 1, 2015 (check website for full schedule). Tickets cost approx. $18-$36 and you can choose from the Haunted Hayride, House of Horror and KarnEvil. Recommended for teens and above.
