It’s a child’s favorite time of the year!  SUMMER!  Your kids are finally out of school and they are eager to explore new places, enjoy the outdoors and spend time with friends and family.  And, as a parent or caregiver, you are also excited for more time with them, but might also be wondering how you will possibly fill all of this new free time.  So, as you start to think about planning your summer activity list, add some of these great LA activities to your summer bucket list!

  • Most kids in Los Angeles love two things…water and parks!  Casitas Water Adventure puts these two great things together for a fun filled day in the sun!  This park is ideal for kids ages 4-11 with two distinct water playgrounds and a lazy river!
  • Take a day trip to the Santa Monica Pier and take a ride on the only solar powered ferris wheel in the world!  The Pacific Park has a great mix of awesome rides, food and games that are sure to keep your kids entertained!
  • Are you looking for a new way to spend time on the beach, maybe when the sun’s rays are not so strong?  How about taking your family to see a movie on the beach?  That’s right, Moonlight Movies on the Beach (Granada Beach) features kid friendly movies in the evenings at 8pm from June 22 through August 27th.  Best part?  This is FREE!
  • Baseball anyone?  Catch a Dodgers game with your kids or if you are looking for a way to enjoy America’s pastime by spending a bit less on tickets, catch a game featuring the local minor league team, The Quakes!
  • Guess what’s new at the LA Zoo?  Only a baby kangaroo and a baby hippo!
  • There is so much exploring to do at the Natural History Museum. Your kids are sure to love the Butterfly Pavilion and the new Dinosaur Hall!
  • The Ocean Institute has many great programs and activities to teach you and your kids about the wonder of our beautiful ocean.  Sign your kids up for camps, Tuesday is Family Science Night or plan to go on an upcoming Blue Whale Discovery Cruise.
  • Griffith Park has something for everyone in your family!  Golf, tennis, swimming, bike riding, picnics, hiking and horseback riding are some of the favorite activities.  Given that Griffith Park is nearly 5 times the size of New York’s Central Park, you will have plenty of room to explore!  And do not forget to catch a great view of the famed Hollywood sign!
  • Want to hike with a stroller?  Check out beautiful Franklin Canyon Park which features a duck pond, a paved 1 mile trail, picnic area and five more miles of more rugged hiking trails.
  • Do your kids love to swim but cannot decide between ocean or pool?  Check out Annenberg Community Beach House, with a playground, beach area, volleyball courts, soccer fields, pool and a gorgeous view deck.  There is no membership required so you can enjoy this gem anytime!
